Aunt Recie

For the past few weeks we have been lucky to have Great Aunt Recie staying in Savannah. Miles has had so much fun with her and of course is in love with her dog Wookie. On the phone the other day he told her how much he missed her and then said....I miss your dog too.

Here we are on an extremely hot summer day and Miles is giving Aunt Recie a really good arm work out.

She kept saying that she didn't want to get splashed, but she exited the pool soaked.

Thanks for coming and spending time with us. We love you. xoxox

Cakes

Here is a cute baby shower cake that I did for a "glamorous" mama to be. It was really fun deciding what she would be carrying around in her bag. But I am embarrassed to say that I got so caught up in those little things that I didn't even make a strap for the bag itself....I mean, how is that going to work? no strap?

I loved my little baby shoes and the pearl necklace on the rubber ducky. She's a fancy rubber ducky. ;)

...and yes, I live in a military town. My neighbor Christine just retired from the military and asked me to make her a cake. I thought for days about what I would do and how I would craft together the boots and paraphernalia. Thank goodness I did.......

Because, the week James was out of town I got a very last minute order from someone and was happy that I already knew how to make some army boots and a duffel. :)

Now this is obviously not a "how to" tutorial. I don't think I have the patience for that kind of thing. But here is a little peek at the process behind some of these cake. I tried to remember to take pictures, but I would just get working and distracted and then be done. Maybe next time there will be more.

Going Green....

Our pretty pond has decided to go green?

We don't know when it will go away, but it makes it easy to see the fish jump.

Happy Birthday Miles!!!!

Wow, I can't believe it, Miles is three years old. I can't even wrap my head around it. He is so much fun. The morning of his birthday we told him he was three, and he just kept saying that he was still two. But by the afternoon he was letting me know that he was taller, and now he was three. Sooooo, I know that there are so many talented mom's out there that blog about the fantastic themes they have for their children's birthday, and trust me, I am not trying to compete with them. But I did have a lot of fun figuring out Miles' party. My great friend Amber had such a cute idea when I told her that Miles' favorite things were Letters and Candy. She said we should have tons of Miles' favorite treats, and label it C is for Cupcake, L is for Lollipop, etc. It was secretly a dream of mine to have a party centered around candy, so it was an easy sell. And Miles really LOVED it.

I borrowed almost all the server ware from Amber who has a collection anyone would envy. Thanks girl.

Here is the crew of kids we had over to help us celebrate. We had a large kiddie pool in the back and we were lucky enough to have an overcast morning so the adults didn't roast as we watched the kids get wet.

My little man! Can't believe it. He was so excited about everything, and every time I turned around he was shoving a donut in his mouth. I was right behind him in that endeavor. :) Here he is ready to blow out the candle on his over sized cupcake. No I didn't make a crazy cake. It wasn't a big deal to Miles that he have something elaborate, so cupcakes it was....perfect!

Here was Miles' FAVORITE part of the party. Presents. It was too funny. Right after he opened his presents and gave out great big hugs I had to go up and nurse Hudson. But when I came down Miles had put all of his new toys in his cabinet and was standing guard in front of the door waiting for me to get downstairs and help him play with things.....apparently he didn't want his friends to get to them first. You can tell he has been an only child for too long.
This boy is the joy of my life. I love him so much and wish I could freeze him just like this. We went to his three year check up and he weighed in at 37 pounds (85th percentile) and 39.5 inches tall (90th percentile). He is a healthy boy and we feel so blessed to have him in our lives.

Independence Day

We had such a fun July 4th this year. We celebrated with friends, BBQ, and fireworks (supplied be the fabulous Barbeau Family who drove all the way to South Carolina to get the good ones)

Here is a cake I was able to do for a woman I met through the Dentac. She was throwing a fabulous party that we didn't make it to. It was such a fun cake to make.

Miles and Elli....O so cute watching the fireworks go off.

Miles kept covering his ears even if it wasn't loud.

Here is most of the motley crew. We had such GIANT sparklers this year.
We hope you had a great holiday too.

4 months

I can't believe Hudson is four months old....and don't get me started on Miles turning three tomorrow. What?! When did that happen. but this post is about Hudson. We went to the doctor last week and he is doing so much better. He still had signs of an ear infection, but other than that we have a healthy boy.
The stats:
Weight 17lbs 2oz : 90th percentile
Height 25 3/8 inches: 75th percentile
Head 17 inches: 75th percentile
He continues to be a big boy. :) We are still working on the sleeping. He now goes down around 730, I feed him at 1030, he eats at 230, but then he wakes at 4, 5, and finally at 630 to eat. It is driving me crazy!!! but its so much better than it was, hopefully it will just keep getting better. Thank you for all the advice, just knowing I wasn't alone in my craziness made me feel a little relief instantly, so thank you.

A Happy Hudson

Hudson still isn't sleeping all that well, but he is feeling a whole lot better and is happier during the day which is FANTASTIC. Here he is in all his smiling glory....

I see a little wrinkle in his nose, reminiscent of Miles and his "ferocious" face.

I guess I have camera work like my mother....I like to cut the top part off...what? I'm missing his head, well, its not important anyway. :)

Typical Hudson.

Belated Happy Father's Day....

This is what James got from Miles on Father's Day. The card just says I LOVE YOU. I couldn't get him to even color it. But he insisted that we make a cake.....you can imagine he thinks you do that on very important days. But it got a little out of hand.

He did it himself and you can tell. He had a great time.
