Just like Dad.

Here is Miles sporting James' high school baseball cap (notice that it almost fits his giant head) and swinging around an all star mini bat. These are two of his new favorite things and they sleep in his room now.

Here is another just like Dad moment. We are working away on our never ending home projects and Miles loves to be a big helper.

October Fun

We went to the local pumpkin patch and picked our pumpkins for Halloween. Miles loved all the action and kids around.

Miles popped his first balloon animal so I went to get him another one and found my men by the pond watching the ducks.

And to top it all off we got "Booed" by a neighbor of ours. Its like a version of Halloween tag, and now we get to "Boo" two more families over the weekend. Can you tell that Miles was thrilled!

More Cake

I got my first cake order in Georgia came from my neighbor across the street. We ran into each other in the grocery store and it came up that her son's birthday was around the corner. Of course I let her know what I did, and that I would love to do a cake.....little did I know she was having 150 people at a 13 year old birthday!

The theme was "Luau", but all the boys wanted was their football numbers somewhere on the cake. Hopefully some of her guests liked it and asked for my info. ;-)

Backyard

We have a lagoon that winds behind the house and last night the fish were jumping out of the water, so James and Miles got in on the fun. It was so adorable to see Miles throw in his bread and bits of corn, but he was quick to leave when the throwing was done.

No pants necessary at our house. ;-)

A little Organization

My husband's skills continue to amaze me! We had some great built ins in the house, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to use them in a way that didn't look all cluttered and crazy.....exhibit A

So my fabulous husband made me doors!!! Doesn't that look so much better! Now I can toss whatever I need to in there and just shut the door! Miles knows which one is his to put his toys in and then James and I each get one for things that we want accessible, but don't have a place for.

We also have a great mudroom, but it was the same situation. I didn't even know what to put there....

But now with doors, and three bottom drawers it's totally functional.

Since I don't have a pantry in the kitchen (I know, its ridiculous) I am using the one side as an overflow of food storage. Its perfect! Thanks honey, I am still so impressed that you made me doors, drawers, and that they match the house so well!

Hilton Head

We had such a fun day on Thursday. All of the dental professionals have an extra long weekend in honor of Labor Day, and they kicked off the weekend by hosting a beach day in Hilton Head, SC (about an hour away) We drove up and played games, ate lunch and then headed to the beach. After I broke my favorite pair of sandals (that I had for 7 years) during a hula hoop competition....no I didn't win, but did pretty well for myeslf. ;-)

Miles had so much fun digging in the sand and jumping in the waves. We sat on the beach and let the water lap up to our waists. We even saw a bunch of sand dollars-that were ALIVE! I had never seen them like that before. It was so crazy to see all the little filaments moving and trying to dig themselves into the sand.

Miles had to strip down at the beach so we could de-sandify him, but he didn't mind at all trotting to the car wearing my sarong.

Big Boy Underwear

Well, Potty Training is in full swing at the Dayley household. Miles got his first pack of big boy underwear....he picked the ones with choo choo trains. He is doing pretty well, but I have no idea what I am doing. If anyone has any tips on the following please let me know.........
1. What do you do when he doesn't make it to the toilet? Is he in trouble or do you just give him new undies?
2. When do you start trusting him outside of the house? yesterday at church he was in a diaper, but still went #1 on the potty (I was very impressed since it wasn't a familiar looking toilet) But I am nervous to sit him in the car without anything else on.
And any other tips would be much appreciated!
