What a good sport!

Elizabeth is striking a pose and her friends wrap her in mounds of toilet paper to make her a heinous wedding dress. It was so hot, and she was such a good sport letting us make her look ridiculous.

Priscilla looking adorable while she watches Elizabeth open all of her presents.

I think this one was the fan favorite. Owen is a huge Yankees fan, and Elizabeth is a huge Red Sox fan. So they are arch nemesis when it comes to baseball. The tank reads....."I love the Yankees even more than I love Owen" It was also paired with some Red Sox Sucks undies. We joked that out of all the lingerie she got, Owen would find this the sexiest.

Beautiful Christina! She looked super chic in her hat, something that not all of us pulled off in the same way.

Hats off to Elizabeth!

Well, Hats ON actually! Congratulations to Elizabeth and Owen, they are getting married in September and we were so excited to get together to celebrate. She requested that we all wear hats as if it were the Kentucky Derby and we all obliged. As you can see, some got a little more excited about it than others :)

I got to make the cakes of course. The large one was meant to be a replica of her hat. Owen was pretty sneaky and emailed me a picture of it without her knowing.

And the miniature individuals were pink and brown, reminiscent of the brides choice in colors for the wedding. It was very serendipitous that she wanted hats since my sister Jen had given me a party planning book months ago, that had cakes similar to these in it.

More of Miles

I know, surprise surprise, more pictures of Miles.

Here he is strutting his stuff. We had a minor set back last week when he had a nasty little fall, but he is back to charging around the house. He does a lot better when he is holding something in his hand....hence the dry erase marker.

And the last one, just because.

And we introduce the Spork....

Miles has been grabbing for the spoon whenever I have been trying to feed him, so I decided to let him have a go at it. The spoon didn't work out because he would flip it upside down and everything would fall off, so we tried the spork.

Needless to say it was a little messy. The messiest we ever get when we eat (I try to keep him pretty clean). He would get a piece of pasta on the end and then take it off with his other hand and eat it, instead of bringing the spork to his mouth. Not quite right....but it got the food in him. :)

Too Quick for Me

Miles is so fast now it is almost impossible to get a decent picture. My house is not large (at all) and so I put him at one end....

And he is at the other before I can snap a good shot!

I love his new mobility because it gives me so much more freedom, but I miss those days of him hamming up to the camera and letting me take picture after picture.

1 ......scooter
2 .......cars
3 .......years
4 .......break ins!

Can you believe it! Our car has been broken into before when we were out of town and tore up the underneath of our car to try to take it. Then another time we could see that someone had pulled the rubber down from around one of our back windows and our emergency car kit was gone. And now, it happened again on Monday. We had gotten home from Costco (a trip I always love) and been home only a few hours before heading out again. It literally was 2 in the afternoon and someone had broken into my car! All they got were a couple of dollars in quarters. Thank goodness they left the carseat. Then Tuesday morning James went to start his scooter and it had obviously been tampered with. The starter button was broken off, and now it doesn't work at all.
I hate these situations, because I really love the neighborhood that I live in. I guess it is just a reminder that although my street is nice, if you walk four blocks in one direction.....its not so nice. I can't blame Philly, although I would love to, becuase I know this happens everywhere. I just hope we can make it one more year without them actually getting the car itself.

Proof.

After our family trip to La Jolla, anytime I would talk to my parents I would say how good Miles was getting at walking. We had the trip to SLC planned and ready to go, and I thought for sure that he would be running by the time we got there. Every time we would talk I would say how many steps he could take and how he would walk all over the house from wall to wall, furniture to furniture. Well, when we finally got to SLC Miles did very little walking on his own. I think he did it just a few times with my parents, and once or twice with Amy. So here is proof that I wasn't lying that whole time, and that my boy is walking all over the house.

Congratulations Christi and Spencer!

Christi and Spencer were married in Boise on 6.7.8...cute huh? It was one year after they reconnected (via myspace). They had known each other in college, so it may seem fast, but the romance has been there for years.

It was so great to see James' sisters, but we missed having Lori and his parents there. Since Rob couldn't be there James had the honor of walking Christi down the aisle. I thought it was great because it gave us an excuse to get him a nice suit....doesn't he look fabulous!

And yes, I did the cakes. It was a little bit of a fiasco trying to get all the tools and supplies I needed, but my Mom is the best, and she was able to work everything out for me. Spencer's mom was nice enough to let me take over her kitchen, and James made the icing for the wedding cake while I decorated the grooms cake. It was definitely a group effort :)

Ohh, and here is a pic of James and I at the reception. Not the greatest pic, but there aren't enough pictures of the two of us. :)

Old School!

While I was visiting the fam in SLC I was able to get together with some great friends from high school (really even from junior high). We had so much fun my cheeks were sore from laughing.

Everyone is doing great. Lindsay has two adorable kids and just recently completely a biathalon. Tricia is 7 months pregnant with number 4, Bethany has the cutest little boy, Aydre is doing great work in the field of physical rehabilitation, Katie just bought a house, and Amy, among other things, is keeping us all connected (thanks A).

Ok, so I know we are getting older, but I still think we all look pretty darn fabulous. Thanks for such a great night ladies, and for making the time while I was in town to get together. Just promise that we won't bring up Junior Prom the next time I see you all. :)

Home Sweet Home

It's funny how so many places can feel like home. My house in Philadelphia feels like home, whenever I fly into La Jolla it feels like home, the town of Novato with the house I grew up in feels like home, and my parents house in Utah really feels like home. It's so warm and inviting, and completely relaxing. I love it! We were able to stay with my parents for a week. I had so much fun, I truly didn't want to leave. Miles was loving it too....he had tons of people to walk him around, and I really think he thought the Grandma and Grandpa lived at the park since there was a huge backyard just outside their door.

He didn't really like the grass too much if he had to crawl. It would even confine him to a blanket for a little while. But he loved exploring everything, and would hit the ground running if you let him.

Miles' favorite thing the whole trip had to be Ginger. He loves dogs, and Ginger is not only the best dog ever, but he loves to lick. Miles thought that was the greatest thing ever. He would just laugh and get so excited that this big ball of fluff was playing with him.

My parents and my sister Amy took Miles for the weekend while James and I went to a wedding. It was so great of them, because I know that my son is a handful, a very happy handful, but a handful none the less. Thank you so much for doing that, it was so fun to be on our own and made a trip to Boise so much easier! We love you all, and miss you already!
